Caroline Visits THE MALL...Washington, DC that is!

Memorial Day Weekend 2009: Our Trip to DC

What better way to honor the brave men and women who have fought for our country...so off to the monuments we went!

We drove into the city and unfortunately had to park a good distance from our attractions, but it was definitely good exercise. The BIGGEST problem is that it was HOT, HOT, HOT!!

We spent out day walking from monument to monument taking it all in. We all had a great time. Grandma and Grandad were along with us, which was nice. They had not been into the city since I was in Elementary school. And, I forgot to mention that this was Caroline's first visit into the city as well....well besides going to the ZOO. So, we tried to take in as much as we could. I think one of our highlights was seeing the fairly new WWII memorial...it is really beautiful!

Once we had seen all the memorials there were to see, we decided to go to a couple of the museums...that was a mistake! Let's just say, Memorial Day weekend in DC...LOT AND LOTS OF PEOPLE!! We hadn't really noticed how many people were in the city because we had spent most of the day outside at the memorials, having our picnic lunch and having an ice cream treat from a local street vendor. It was however THE MOTORCYCLE weekend. We had seen lots and lots of motorcycles, which Caroline LOVED watching them as they rode by.

So, we decided to call it a day and save the museums for another trip.

It was great to be in DC on such a Memorable occasion!

I hope you enjoy some of our pics from the day...Happy Memorial Day!

Love,
